Laser hair removal recommendations

Can anyone recommend a great and inexpensive place to get laser hair removal? I'm in Tigard, but willing to drive. TIA

Re: Laser hair removal recommendations

  • KeyLaser Institute and Pearl Medspa are both good.
  • I went to Allure Medspa and it was a great experience. They might give you a discount if you say you are doing it for your wedding. :)
  • Have you both had success with yours?  I really want to do this, but DH is giving me crap since he watched a Today Show episode where they said it doesn't work.  I still have hope!
  • It depends on the hair color and your skintone. I'm very fair and had my bikini line done and it worked great. It's been something like 10 yrs and still looks good! I asked Dr Key at Key Laser if I could do the hair on my legs and he said no, it wouldn't work (I love that they are so honest there -- some places aren't). The hair on my legs is very blonde and apparently the laser won't pick it up.
  • I had mine done in Boston, so I can't recommend anyone in particular, but I can say that I would recommend getting it done at a dermatologist's office, as opposed to a spa offering laser removal.  There are also different types of lasers, which have different result levels.  I had great results, but you need to do your research.  The best results happen on light skin with dark hair, and I would recommend meeting a few different doctors before you decide on someone. I also had treatments with two different laser types, and got better results with one type of laser.

  • I highly recommend a package that treats an area until it is completely done as you will likely need a few touch-ups after the initial six or so treatments. This isn't something that is done in one visit. For me it was about a year and a half commitment though the areas you do will effect how much of a commitment. I had to stay out of the sun throughout my entire treatment as I was having my arms and leg's done as well as bikini and underarms. It worked best on my lower leg's, bikini and underarms as my thigh and arm hair were too light. One thing that's good to know is that depending on the area, (mostly with leg's and underarms) you will still have to shave though perhaps only once or twice per month. I was shocked one day about six months after my last treatment to see some grotesquely long super fine blond hairs coming from my armpits. I never knew I had any blonde hair under there because it all seemed to be so dark. Thankfully it was in the winter so I hadn't been baring myself except perhaps at they gym and my DH swore he'd never noticed. All in all I would recommend this to anyone wtih fair skin and dark hair. I'm so glad I did it and only wish I didn't have to shell out more cash for touch ups otherwise I'd be 100% satisfied with my results vs. my current 85% satisfied. Good Luck!

  • How much does it ussally cost per area? I've been looking online an most places don't want to give you a quote until they meet for a consultation. One place is having a special of around $450 for 6 treatments of a bikini line but only if I schedual soon. Is this a good enough deal to rush into?
