Daycare where do I start?

I think we have figured out where we are going to be living in August, now I want to start getting ideas on Daycare in the area.  Where do I start getting recommendations and reviews on Daycares on the Northeast side of Madison?

Also, a friend of mine works for Pooh Bear day care on Stought Road, and I"m wondering if anyone has heard anything about them?

Thanks!

  • If you want in-home, the 4 Cs is a good place to look. I also used the Department of Health and Family Services website.

  • Here is a good website that will give you a list of in home daycares, group daycares etc and their violations.  I used it to find my provider and my sister used it.  You just need to click on type of setting you are looking for and your county.

  • To find the addresses the above address is a great one. I also asked people I work with for referrals. When your looking into a place drop in unannounced & ask for information. They should always be ready to give tours, unless it's nap time.

  • All of the above mentioned are good places.  We actually found our daycare on Craigslist.  I was getting desperate, all of the places I called were full so dh gave it a try.  We hit the jackpot and found the most amazing in home daycare provider.  So, it's a long shot, and you might get some crazies, but that's where we found ours.
