**Hoping** ? re strollers
I know you're a self confessed stroller snob...what do you recommend for a double? Parker will just be turning 2 when DD arrives and still likes the stroller, so I'm going to need something for both of them. I'm thinking something that we can use for walks in the neighborhood, trips to the zoo or park or mall, etc. Do you like side by side or tandem better? Any recommendations?
Re: **Hoping** ? re strollers
okay it is working.
Tandem take up less space and you aren't the obnoxious stroller hog taking up the entire pathway, but they are usually harder to steer. SBS are easier to steer but you won't fit a lot of places (like aisles in the mall stores).
I much prefer air tires to hard tires. you'll get a much smoother ride for the kids but also your hands if you are walking on bumpy surfaces.
Now for strollers. I have the Jane Powertwin (Janeusa.com) and I really like it. It is a tandem and steers very well. The downside to it is a) expensive $550 and b) the sunshade on the front seat is too low for a toddler and the baby goes in the back seat. I just put the boys in hats since I took the sun shade off so the one in the back could see too. I don't really care for snap n' go features where the car seat fits in the stroller but unofficially the Jane can hold the graco carrier in the back seat. I'm sure any stroller would be bad, but it is getting harder to push my jane now that I'm wearing my 2 mos old and trying to push 2 30lb toddlers on hilly surfaces.
Another stroller that I like that is Tandem is the Phil &Teds. It comes with a kit where the older kid can sit below. People at my old park raved about them and the kids seemed to like sitting so low even though as adults we think it is odd. It is much smaller than a traditional tandem.
The gracos push like a mac truck.
As for doubles my favorite are the valco and mountain buggy but they are both expensive.
Whatever you do, try to test drive the stroller with weight in it. A graco will seem easy to steer in BRU with nothing in it, but put 60lbs of kid in it and you'd rather poke your eyes out. Also try to put different weight amounts in since your kids won't be close to the same weight until about 15-20 mos from now (both my boys are 29lbs even though they are 18 mos apart).
GL and if you have any questions let me know.
