Moms -- teething question

Please tell me that once the puddles of drool become lakes and DS is gnawing on his hands all day that it means the tooth will be here soon. ?

I can't see or feel anything on his gums and I'm worried that means we still have another month of this. ?I feel so bad for him. ?He's practically shoving his little hands down his throat.

Re: Moms -- teething question

  • depends on the child.  my little guy drooled like crazy and gnawed at his hands staring around 4 months.  We were certain that he would cut his 1st tooth around 5 or 6 months.  Nope, it was not until 7 months that the first tooth could be felt under his gums. it was 8 months when the tooth broke skin.  But then all of a sudden, he started cutting teeth like crazy.  By 10 months he had 4 teeth.  By 15, a full set.
  • Thanks, Marina!

?That's what I'm worried about. ?He's been drooling like crazy for the past couple of months, but he's only 5 1/2 months old. ?I think I'm being hopeful that he'll cut the tooth this early.?

  • We had the same experience as Marina did.  They do drool when they teeth, but unfortunately just because they are drooling, doesn't mean they are teething.  In fact in a non-teething drool period of Ben's life, we just had to keep a bib on him constantly.  That's my best advice! :)

  • We had the same issue! He started drooling buckets at 3 months and all my Inlaws warned that one was coming soon...DH cut his 1st tooth at 3 months (crazy!!!) but no tooth till 7 months. After the first one he got 3 more within weeks and has gotten a new one every months since. It bummed me out to always have his cute outfits covered in bibs but if I didn't he would get a drool rash :(
  • DD started drooling at 3.5 months.  Her two bottom teeth broke through at 4.5 months.  She got two top ones at 6.5 months.  And three more (two top and one bottom) just broke through last week; DD is 9 months and 1 week old.  So it's possible that his teeth can break through early.
