i dont play very often, but i think i have potential to get better. i've played twice this spring so far and going next weekend. i want to start paying more attention to my game - my distance with certain clubs and track my score/handicap better. i'm currently using a handmedown set of mens clubs, but thinking about investing in some women's clubs soon. i've never taken lessons, but DH's pointers always help me a lot.
how long have you been playing?
how often do you play?
did you take lessons or just learn with DH/friends/family?
Re: any golfers?
I just started about 3 years ago and have only been out a handful of times. I've mainly learned from DH, but want to see a Golf Pro this year and get serious. We are both just finishing school and his third shift schedule at the Hospital does not help.
I highly recommend getting a set of Ladies clubs. I used to borrow to go to the driving range and getting my own clubs helped me be more consistent. I have graphite clubs and love how much easier to swing they are. Try some at a pro shop and if the clubs are too expensive check eBay. I just got this in the mail for less than Golfsmith. It is so pretty with all the teal ribbons in the grip and on the club head, but it doesn't look overly "girly." DH surprised me with it to celebrate since I am very adamant about Ovarian Cancer Awareness.
how long have you been playing?I've been playing off and on since I was a teenager.
how often do you play? The past two years DH and I have played twice a month from May- September.
did you take lessons or just learn with DH/friends/family? I took lessons when I was a teenager. I took them with my dad and brother. I've actually taught DH more about golf than he's taught me. We're thinking of taking a golf lesson together this summer for our anniversary.
As for clubs, I bought mine at an end of season sale for a fantastic price. I used to play with men's clubs and I swear my swing has improved drastically since I've made the switch to women's clubs.
I've been playing since high school.
I used to play quite a bit more but have been busy getting our new house together.
I've taken a few lessons here and there. When I lived in Nashville I found a group that I really enjoyed playing with. It was called the Executive Women's Golf Association. Look them up and see if they have a group in your area. My chapter met once or twice a week at a local course to play nine and then we went out to dinner together.
I play with a set of Callaway X-22's. I use men's.
Wow, I had never heard of that group! I just looked them up and I can't wait to join.
I started a few years ago. ?DH golfed in college at a big name school, but he's not the best for teaching so I have had lessons. ?The lessons helped tremendously. ?
I played with the 9 hole ladies a few times a week at our club when we lived in the States, now I get out every few weeks. ?My clubs are Ping Eye Twos that used to belong to my grandmother. ?They are good clubs but they don't make them anymore. ?DH had them?re-shafted?and gripped for my height, etc. ??
My dad has tried to get me to play golf since I was really little. He bought be clubs when I was about 10 years old. I was better then than I am now. At this point, I can't even hit the ball. My hand-eye coordination is terrible. I am a soccer player so my foot-eye is much better.
I would like to get back into golf because my entire family golfs...plus I have a couple of girlfriends who are starting to play. Maybe someday I will get it. One of my bestfriends just got her women's clubs off of craigslist for very cheap. It's worth checking out if you don't mind used clubs.
