Why does everybody want you to work for free?

I have a freelance design business and I'm currently working for a client who requested extra work to be done, which is not covered in the contract. I told the client that they would be charged for this extra work. I don't understand how or why clients would expect freelancers to create extra work for them according to their specifications for free. This is really bothering me. Do you all have any advice on how to handle a situation like this.

  • oh god, tell me about it! i'm a designer too, so I know just how you feel.? I'm horrible and I never stick up for myself enough and say TOP.? It's hard, but that's what you have to do.
