Aruba Trip and Idea for a discount vacation
We leave for Aruba on Saturday. We looked at
all different trips for a week deciding between Florida and the
Bahamas. I told DH I wanted to go to a place like Aruba (we have been
3 times). No need for a car, walk to all the restaurants, very safe,
grocery store with US items, and a kitchen to cook in. Kick as.. pool
and a playground.
We were toying with using the family timeshare to go, but we would already be taking 2009. So I had this crazy thought to look on ebay to see if someone was selling a week. We heard of other people doing this. A person happened to be selling the EXACT week we wanted to go, at the EXACT place we love to stay - Marriott Surf Club. It rents at $539 a night for two bedroom and we were looking at renting a 1 bedroom for $400. I got a Two Bedroom Oceanview for $1150 for 7 NIGHTS!!!! Sara will have her own room. Plus we looked at the airfare and we are leaving out of Bradley for $400. We have never flown to Aruba for less the $550 out of Bradley.
So we are Very Happy

We always buy Sara a ticket - we call it parent first class. Extra room, sleeps in her seat (I book during nap times) and we are all happy.
I am not sure what restaurants we will hit. She may get a kick out of the cats at Madame Jeanette's. Texas D'b may be good since it is fast moving.
I would love to hear about your trip when you return. We're staying at the Surf Club in December and can't wait!
