All my river floatin' friends
We rented a house in August, and I am nervous! River levels are the lowest they have been in a few years!
I have a friend who lives down there and he said they have not had hardly any rain! I am like, we can't get it to stop raining up here!
So, anyways, we need some tunes this year, any suggestions? I wish we could do an Ipod type system, but that may be tricky.
Re: All my river floatin' friends
We're going the weekend of June 27th. I'll let you know what the levels are then!
we always rely on the redneck/white trash floaters with the huge cooler stereos for the tunes! :-)
Last year there were not any rednecks with cooler stereos, so I thought we would make our own. My DH is an engineer, so I know he would rig up something for us if he just had some ideas... maybe solar powered... must google this now!
So, my friend had an idea for this year.. she said they take boxed wine (there are some decent ones out there, Black Box for one) in a chardonnay (red wine on the river does not appeal) and they take the bag out of the box and keep it floating in the water next to them and take swigs out of the bag. I am not sure how that sounds.. could be messy, but come on, do you really care on the river, where you are peeing next to each other all day
Maybe I will stick with
For personal iPod use - Aquapac
For everyone iPod use - Waterproof iPod Stereo
I'm certain you can find varied pricing, but this at least gives you an idea that there is a product line for them. HTH!
We're the "redneck/white trash" floaters! ;-) DH mad a stereo out of a cooler. 2 years and it's still running strong. We've had several people wanting to buy it from us.
We are going the weekend of July 31st. Hopeuflly they get more rain before then!
I am going the weekend of June 27th too!
Maybe the new ice chest rules scared away the rednecks?
Try this link:
http://www.toobing.net/toob_music.html I bet your husband can come up with something!!
I don't know if I could do the Bag 'O Chardonnay. We usually get the floating insulated cups (kind of like travel coffee mugs) and make a raspberry vodka/crystal lite concotion. yum!
Love it! There's something about the Guadelupe that brings out the redneck in all of us!
what about the juice box wines? might not be as messy! Wine could be a dangerous thing for me ?on the river...LOL reason why I stay with beer :-) I can handle myself and i stay hydrated too! lol?
?we havent gone since 2 summers ago but they didn't get rain until late in the season and when we went end of July, they were letting water out of the lakes because they were so full, the guadalupe was closed for toobers, and ONLY open to white water rafters, the current was INSANE!
?we haven't set a weekend this year yet, but we want to go, if we do, i think it might be last minute which we know we won't be getting a house if that- so we might be roughing it and camping out! (i dont camp, but i just might for the river! LOL)?
i thought floating the river pregnant was out of the question?? it will be hot, bound to the water, and no drinking! are a lot of you really floating this summer?
i'm curious..
