I just scheduled our consult appt with AICGB, but I forgot to ask how long it takes!  I need to put in the schedule at work an estimate of what time I'll be in (made a morning appt) - do you remember about how long your consultations were?  I'm assuming no more than an hour?

 TIA!

  • thats what i was assuming too! but ours was more like 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Most of the time was on bloodwork (no clue why A needed it, she was up to date and we brought her last lab results, but whatevs....).

the midwife consult itself was about 40 minutes.

  • Thanks for the info! I'll allow some extra time.

  • Ours was just about an hour or 40 min.  We didn't have to do any bloodwork though

  • Thanks Sam.  Hmm.. Now I'm wondering if I'll need the blood work or not.  Guess we'll see.

::butting in::  Whether or not you have blood work could depend on what CD it is.  If it's CD3 you might as well get it done as it will give you a baseline and you won't have to make another trip for CD3 later on.  Obviously we go to a different clinic, but our 1st appt was about 2 hours.  Mostly insurance details, options, I think they drew K's blood...oh and she got an HSG but I'm not counting that in the appt time.  Good Luck!

not the same kind of blood work :)

the midwives dont do any medical monitoring with the IUIs (no CD3 bloodwork, ect). So the bloodwork Andrea had was mostly STD and infectious disease testing.

Brit, if you dont know your CMV status, that would probably be a good time to get the test done.

That's right - I was planning on asking for the CMV test, and I actually can barely remember the last time I had had blood drawn for anything, so I can count on getting poked at this appt :-)
