Re: :-0 BL:
I love it. I am watching live. I am scared to go on any websites because I don't want any spoilers. I really hope Ron does not beat him.
You should be happy-Mike looks like he has a good shot at the prize. I am still rooting for Tara. I am much more inspired by her than Mike. At least Mike was smart enough to tone down his overconfidence from earlier.
OMG I can't belive she won. WTF.
I seriously never even considered her as a potential winner. WTF>
I bet Tara is PISSED! HA HA!
ITA. something looked off, I think maybe it was in her face? she'll gain some of the weight back though, I would think it would be pretty hard for her to maintain 117 lbs.
OMG, jerry! I cannot believe he lost that much weight, especially since they were the first to get kicked off. so amazing.
and the orange team, ugh. the big dude (not dan) only lost 50 lbs? yikes.
My husband couldn't stand her for the same reason ... she sent her daughter packing!! Her daughter did well but not as well as mom. I'm convinced she starved herself or something in order to get down to 117lbs to win the show ... I bet if you go weigh her in a week she'll be up over 120. I'm bummed about Tara ... she worked the hardest and to me was one of the most inspirational (her never give up, work harder, push through it attitude).
It was also the way Helen was standing ... just cocky!!! I am not happy about her winning!
When it comes down to $250K on the line, not really. Many previous contestants have openly discussed the crazy lengths they went to during the final 1-2 weeks before the finale in order to lose whatever little bit of extra weight they could. Helen was not the first contestant to ever look unhealthily thin at the finale.
I remember one previous winner said he gained 7 pounds the day after the finale simply by drinking water normally; he had been so dehydrated. I doubt that Helen will maintain 117 for very long.
I agree that with Mrs50% that Tara must be so.pissed. Bet you she has a rant brewing inside her about Jillian insisting that she find a balance between losing weight and living life. If she had only continued her OCD ways ......
Oh, I totally agree the game is all about winning the money, but I think ideally the show overall should be about motivating people to be healthy. But I tend to look at things from a media/society research perspective.
I agree that Helen looked unhealthy.
I also am laughing that the whole drama between Mike and Ron stabbing Kristin in the back and sending her home bit Mike in the ass big time. That elimination was between Kristin and Helen, right?

OMG Helen looked disgusting. I looked on the BL website and she is 5'6''. That is ridiculously low for being 5'6''. I think she looked so much better on the last episode when she was 147.
Whoever picked out Mike's clothes is on crack. I understand wanting to show off their new bodies but his shirt was so tight you could see his leftover stomach skin.
117 at 5'6" is just wrong. I think they should DQ people who are that unhealthy. Seriously. I also think they should base the eliminations/winners on body fat, not weight

this. and helen's arms looked pretty gross, too.
Devil's advocate checking in:
Technically, Helen is at the very low end of a normal BMI classification for her height. But losing another 2-3 pounds would probably push her into being technically underweight. I think she'd look a LOT better if she gained 10-15 pounds back, rather than trying to maintain such a low weight. I have told my H all season long that Helen would need to get scary-skinny in order to win and it looks like that is what she did.
As much as I enjoy watching BL I have always felt that the message is "Lose as much weight as you can no matter what it takes!" rather than "Find a healthy, happy weight for you." BL is notoriously bad about addressing nutrition. Also, despite the initial medical consultation with Dr. H, the contestants are never advised about what might be a healthy goal weight for thmeselves.
ITA about the wardrobe choices. Sometimes arms just need to be covered up. Satin is rarely flattering on anyone. Tara's dress was just plain odd and Mike's shirt was so tight I almost felt like he needed Spanx to reign in all that excess skin.
