Do you live in ATL or in the outskirts? DH and I are thinking of moving to GA and just wanted to get your view of the state.

TIA

Re: **emmienjuicy**

  • I have lived nearly my whole life in the Atlanta suburbs, spending summers in Miami. I lived in an apartment in Atlanta for about a year right after college graduation before FI moved to FL.

I LOVE Atlanta, and Georgia in general, it has a lot to offer and the ATL suburbs is a great place to raise kids.

The 'burbs are more family friendly, and Buckhead/Dunwoody is the more yuppie area. Either way- stay on the north side of the city :) any other questions, feel free to ask!

  • We are considering Cumming. I know it is north of ATL. We went a couple of weeks ago and fell in love, and like you said a great place to raise kids. I don't know if I have heard of the Buckhead area where is that
  • Cumming is the newest devloping area up this way, I actually work in Alpharetta (just south of cumming). Cumming def has great schools and a lot to offer, just beware that if you are planning to work in the city, you will be looking at about a 2 hour commute, traffic is horrendous on 400 south during drive times.

Buckhead is just ITP (inside the perimeter) south of cumming. HTH!

  • Yes we loved Alpharetta too but we are actually looking for a up and coming place since DH is in the restaurant business and we would open up a new restaurant. I don't think I would be going into the city much during rush hour so that helps.
  • Well that is a good area to put a new resturant for sure! Esp if it is a uniqe-non-chain. The 'burbs can be awfully cookie cutter sometimes..

  • Yea it would be the one and only so we are excited. We will see what happens.
  • I DON'T KNOW WITH WHO'S PERMISSION YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING TO BE MOVING.
  • Lol I was waiting for you to chime in. You know GF how much I hate it down here and if everything goes with the restaurant then we might get out of here. You can come  with us you would love it. People are so nice and friendly and they have awesome beer too LMAO
  • Beer???? Well I will consider it!

Though you can not move till we come with! Until then your 2 little feet will stay put in the M.I.A

  • The house I am in love with has a finished basement, its a two bedroom with its own laundry and kitchen and separate entrance. :) But it also has a door that would connect to my kitchen we can be roomies and the boys can just sit and play their dang xbox
