What did you do with.....
your wedding dress? Mine is currently hanging from the rod part of our poster bed. Seriously I have no idea what to do with it. A lot of people have recommended preserving it, but I have also heard horror stories about people opening the box later and it wasn't even their dress in there. I do not know anyone who has actually done it, so I do not know of any reliable place to go if that is what I decide to do with it.
I was just curious what everyone else has done with thiers.
If you did preserve it locally, and they did a good job, where did you go? TIA.
Re: What did you do with.....
I threw mine in the guest room closet in the David's Bridal bag I brought it home in. It is still in there...dirty and all...
Well mine was hanging in my in-law's closet in Miami till probably two months ago. Now its hanging in my guest room closet still dirty and all. Its going to be 2 years tomorrow. :-)
At least I'm not alone...
*not tomorrow, next month!!
My mind is on vacation mode. Is it June yet?
What she said.
Ponder-ing whether or not to become a Viking's fan
My wedding dress is still hanging up on my closet at my parent's house in Michigan. (and I was married 5 yrs ago!) I meant to preserve it, but never got around to it. My sister-in-law still hasn't gotten around to preserving her dress either, and she got married 10 years ago.
I also admit to trying on my dress this winter. It still fits! lol
Well thank you ladies, I feel so much better. I thought I was being a slacker, but now I am just going to hang it in the guestroom closet.
I can deside if I want to do anything with it later.
THIS!
This!
Its in the guest bedroom. I think I only have taken it out once just to look at it. I think when I have a child I'm going to try to make their baptism outfits out of the dress. We'll see.
Options that I have considered: making a baptism dress for DD (but I don't think there is enough time to find someone to do it AND get it done); making a teddy bear for DD; or (as suggested by my mom - have a little dress made for DD if/when she is interested in playing "dress - up".
I am just like everyone else... my dirty dress is hanging off the closet door in our guest bedroom... we will be married a year next month!
My husband and I talk about what to do with it... I tell him I want to at least get it cleaned, and he says "no, it will wipe away all the wedding memories", and then other times he suggest I try to sell it (but I can't and won't... it's my wedding dress). My mom wants me to make it into a cocktail dress and use the remnant materials for christening gowns later on in life.... we have to figure out what we are going to do before we move within the next month or two!
LOL same here!!!!!
EDIT: i plan to have it cleaned at some point and maybe sell it on ebay.
I like the idea of using the materials later in life as christening gowns...etc. Not a bad idea.
