Bonus points for anyone who has a prom pip!!!
Re: Prom Poll
1) Did you go to prom? I went to prom my junior year then ball my senior year (they are basically the same thing)
2) Bring a date? Jr year my date was my boyfriend at the time. Senior year I was dating Andrea but too much of a wuss to take her to ball (i wasnt out to anyone) - so, ironically enough, I ended up going with a single girl friend.
3) What'd u wear? Jr year was a black form fitting floor length gown. sleeveless with a boat neck. to accent the simple gown I went with silver strappy shoes (the kind with the square chunky heals), silver sparkly elbow gloves, a silver sparkly clutch, and a bunch of silver sparkly clips in my hair. hot stuff at the time.
Senior year i switched it up and went with a dressier gown (floor length, strapless, lacey overlay with a blue satin gown underneath) and simple black accessories. I would actually wear that dress again.....if I could ever fit into it.
4) Is it a happy memory? my jr prom was the very typical high school girl dream type night....limo, flowers, pictures, dinner, dancing, big sleepover at my friend's house followed by beach the next day. good clean fun.
Senior year was a different story. I was bitter about not being with the person I really wanted there...and there was big drama in my group of friends...and i may or may not have almost been kicked out for drinking in the bathroom...ugh, definitely not one of my happiest evenings.

I have pictures, but they're at home!
1) Did you go to prom? Yes, my sophomore, junior and senior years. (My group of friends was very into school dances)
2) Bring a date? tell us about her/him Sophomore year I went with my good friend Taylor (emcee at our wedding!). We went to a lot of school dances together.
Junior year I went with a friend again. He was a guy I didn't know super well, and I thought we'd have fun and get to hang out more.
Senior year I went with a female friend whose boyfriend was going to be out of town for prom. By then, I was out to school and family, and she was excited about us making us a scene in anyway that we could
3) What'd u wear? Sophomore year I wore a dress that was my stepmom's - it was black, tank straps, sequin bodice, and was kind of a short skirt, with a long skirt slit up the front over it - you know? I'll have to come back with a pic - it was cute at the time. Black heels, did my own hair half up.
Junior year I wore a slinky black spagehetti strap with a few rhinestones (loved it), a black sequin flower choker, black heels, hair slicked back in a pony and smoky eye makeup. I felt like hot sh!t, lol.
Senior year, because we were having fun with it, I wore black dress pants, killer heels and a fitted black dress shirt with white cuffs. Also, red lipstick. Wore my hair down and regretted it (it was sticking out on the side in our picture!), should have worn it up.
4) Is it a happy memory? Any scandalous stories to share? Sophomore year was lots of fun. Good clean time. Danced my butt off.
And so I had a ball handing them out at prom. It was a little weird though because this was right when I was figuring out if I was really bisexual, or maybe actually a lesbian, and I was kind of trying to convince myself that I had a crush on my date - which was kind of a disaster. Ah, high school...
Junior year I had a great time passing out condoms to everyone - my stepmom had given me a ton she got at some concert that had a safe sex booth (not yet knowing I wouldn't have any use for them....
Senior year was a blast. I felt like a bad ass in my pants. By then I was "the school lesbian" and I got a lot of great and fun comments from random classmates about my outfit. My friend and I posed for pics in the traditional prom pose and danced together and all around had a blast.

LOL! Well, she won't be able to pull one over on you, because you'll know all the tricks!

1) Did you go to prom? Yes. I went to both my Junior and Senior prom.
2) Bring a date? tell us about her/him For my Junior year I bought my drunk hook up buddy (whenever we were drunk we'd make out.
) But I wasn't really into him. My senior year I brought a friend. He was a sweet boy who ended coming out of the closet the next year.
3) What'd u wear? My Junior year, I wore a long flowered Laura Ashley dress (keep in mind it was 1991!) The dress was too big and I had it altered, but it still never fit correctly. My Senior year I wore a black sheath with tiny pearls scattered on it. It was a cute dress and my date had a tie and cummerbund that was black with teeny white polk-a-dots so we matched!
4) Is it a happy memory? Any scandalous stories to share? Both years we went back to my friend Ali's beach house where we drunk ourselves silly. But that was most every weekend - so it was nothing new. A lot of people did come to prom drunk and all of those people had to have a Saturday detention. Thankfully, I saved my drinking for post-prom! I remember having an okay time at the prom itself - but it really wasn't my thing (dressing up/dancing/pretending to think your date looks hot!)
Yes, i went
2) Bring a date? tell us about her/him
I went with a friend. I just remember thinking he was acting really stupid. It was okay though, I just needed someone for the pics.
3) What'd u wear?
I loved my dress. It was kind of princessy, white full skirt and big black puffy shoulders. I had elbow length gloves, the whole deal. It was very 90's LOL!
4) Is it a happy memory? Any scandalous stories to share?
It's a nice memory, no scandals for me. My friends drank a little but it didn't interest me. We did the whole limo, corsage, hotel thing, it was fun. I have pics but they will stay hidden away forever.
1) Did you go to prom? Yes. Junior year I went to all the dances (four I think, a couple at my school and a couple at the other school in town, some less formal) with my boyfriend at the time who was a senior at the other school. Senior year I was already attending community college classes and only went to prom.
2) Bring a date? tell us about her/him My junior year boyfriend was a super nice Catholic boy (I was Catholic at the time). My senior year date was my other boyfriend, now my gay best friend.
3) What'd u wear? For my junior prom I wore a bright red satin dress with a pretty full skirt and thin straps that I borrowed from my mom's (college age) co-worker at the time. My nana made me a black bolero jacket and I had my hair done up. My date had a bright red matching cummerbund and bow tie with his (own) tux. Super cute.
For my date's senior prom my nana made me a dress. I picked the pattern, silver grey satin, matching silver grey gossimer overlay, pearly buttons. I had my hair done up and the extra buttons pinned into it. My date had silver cummerbund and a silver grey tie again with his (own) tux.
Senior year I wore this long variegated red and purple dress. Sounds odd, but I thought (still do) that it was beautiful. I wore doc marten boots underneath but got my hair done up. My date wore a jacket over a button up shirt, no tie, and also wore doc marten boot.
4) Is it a happy memory? Any scandalous stories to share?
Junior prom we went with/met up with a large group of friends and I remember that it was a lot of fun. Nothing scandalous.
His senior prom we had a limo and doubled with his friend and my friend as a date. We stayed out late but nothing scandalous.
Senior year we thought we were (almost) too cool for prom (mainly because we were already in college). We drove to Seattle for dinner (at a very cool restaurant I still like) and then back. He didn't dance with me, I danced with a couple friends and then we left early. We joked about all the other kids losing their virginity at hotel rooms all over town.
1) Did you go to prom? yes, my junior and senior prom
2) Bring a date? Yes, went with a date, my high school boyfriend. The only thing that I can really say, is that neither of us knew at that time that we liked playing with our "own team."
3) What'd u wear? junior year, a creamed color gown with a shawl; senior year a light blue gown
4) Is it a happy memory? Any scandalous stories to share? Definitely a happy memory. We should have figured out about ourselves because we were more into toilet papering houses than the "boyfriend/girlfriend" stuff. By the way, try toilet papering a house in a gown, it is quite fun!
2) Bring a date? tell us about her/him Um for Junior Prom, I was going with my very gay friend Eric Peter, the whole school knew we were gay, and it just fit. I couldn't take Julie b/c my stepmom would of freaked. However, Eric did call Julie and ask her permission to take me lol! When I left for CA Eric went in Julie's place.
3) What'd u wear?
I had a goregous dress bought and paid for, it actually resemble my wedding dress quite a bit, only it was hot pink! ! ! It was AWESOME! My only regret is not ever wearing it.
4) Is it a happy memory? Any scandalous stories to share?
We'll I never actually go Um, I was pretty sad on Junior Prom, b/c I felt like I was suppose to be there. Sr. Prom I didn't really care, b/c I'd gotten everything I'd wanted. Julie moved to CA, and was living with my Aunt and I. nothing past that matterd. And since we knew I couldn't go to Sr. Prom we went to homecoming in the fall and treated it as prom. That I have a picture of!
Bonus points for anyone who has a prom pip!!!
1) Did you go to prom? I went my senior year
2) Bring a date? tell us about her/him I actually wasn't going to go to prom. I had already fighred out I wasn't into guys, but it was still a pretty dangerous time to come out being gay ( the late 80's) I had a very proper guy friend who thought it was awful I wasn't going to go to prom so he auctioned me off as a date in a group of his friends. I went with the guy who bid a dollar ( but he did pay for the tickets and the dinner) and with a girl friend I had who was waiting for an arranged marriage in India and wasn't allowed to date who went with another guy from the same group. Funny thing is, both of our guy dates turned out to be gay too.
3) What'd u wear? My dress was caryola color crayon green, tea length with poofy sleeves and a cut out back. My haor was part up and part down curly with my ever present 80's spiral perm curls. My dae actually had long hair that he wore tied back in a ponytail with a ribbon that matched my dress.
4) Is it a happy memory? Any scandalous stories to share? It was pretty mellow actually. We actually had a lot more fun at dinner before the dance and at the zoo the next day than we had at the prom itsself.
~Kennedy
1) Did you go to prom? yes, just senior prom. junior prom seemed silly - get dressed up to hang out in the gym?
2) Bring a date? tell us about her/him yea, i went with my "sorta-date". Senior yr this guy and i used to go to movies and make out on the weekends b/c all of our friends were couples and we were kind of the leftovers. He was a horrible kisser. I heard he's married now and has a ridiculous IB job.
3) What'd u wear? a mint green very late 90s poofy number
4) Is it a happy memory? Any scandalous stories to share? It was...nothing spectacular? honestly I don't rmeember too much about it.
1) Did you go to prom? Yep.
2) Bring a date? tell us about her/him. I went with my best gay boyfriend. We shared a limo and after-party with three male-female "couples," including a) my best friend (who I was secretly sleeping with) and the exchange student she had a crush on, b) my straight friend and the only out gay boy in school, and c) a girl I had a huge crush on who's date I can't recall at all.
3) What'd u wear? A black and white corset dress with a ballgown skirt.
4) Is it a happy memory? Any scandalous stories to share? It's a great memory. I remember it being the first time in high school that I was completely comfortable with myself. I made a lot of friends that night that I kept through college.
I can't recall any real scandals. My date had just gotten a new haircut and he refused to dance the entire evening b/c he was worried about messing it up. LOL. I have a great memory of him on the dance floor, pressing his hair down with his palms to protect it. I also had one of those delightfully sweet revenge moments, when a homophobic/racist girl who'd always tormented me got angry because the two of us were wearing the same dress....and her boyfriend said it looked better on me. Petty, I know, but that was really funny.
That. is. Julie's. Highschool. Story.
Oh the iorny, is that she was Julie's MOH.
