How much do you pay to have your house cleaned?

I know it varies by what you want done and how big your house is, but what do you pay?  I'm not sure if this will be possible, but I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have someone come clean the first few times after the twins are born (Lord knows life's going to be chaotic to say the least).  TIA.

Re: How much do you pay to have your house cleaned?

  • When I had a housekeeper I paid $10.00 an hour, but it was friend/family. I have no idea what a true housekeeping service, like Molly Maids or the like would charge.
  • We used to have a woman who ran her own housekeeping business clean for $65 every other week.  She quit when we asked her to pay more attention to areas we thought she was skipping.  So you get what you pay for..

We had Molly Maids and Merry Maids come out and do estimates they were both at $120 every other week, with the first two cleanings being $200 to get it up to "their standards."  We decided to spend money on other things...

Just for your reference, we have a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom ranch with a finished basement.  I also have three pets, so I don't know if that swayed costs any.

Wow, that's way too rich for our blood.  That's an insane amount.
