so I see this is a more favored beach than Daytona and Coco beach. My question is how far is it from Downtown Disney etc.
Is this beach more kid friendly?
Re: New Symrna Beach- Sp?
I usually goto Cocoa Beach becuase a) its closest to where I live and b) you can't drive on the beach. Granted, I have not been to Daytona or New Symerna in about 3-4 years but I like being ableo take my daughter and let her run around w/out having to worry about her running in front of a car.
IMO, if you are willing to drive further to goto a beach, then you should drive to Clearwater Beach (or another beach in the Tampa area) becuase the beaches on the West coast are a lot nicer (IMO again) then the east coast beachs. I just dont like to drive 2 hours to goto the beach when I can drive 45 minutes instead.
I am not sure how far disney is from the two coasts but you can probably map quest it to get a good idea.
I'm with PP, i like Clearwater beach MUCH better then the east coast beaches. the water is much bluer, and there are alot of shells. Clearwater has a nice park, Sand Key Park ( I got married there). I want to say they have a little play ground in the park somewhere and it is away from all the hustle and bustle of clearwater beach. There is also Fort Desoto....that is a little further south then Clearwater though, very nice though.
The West Coast beaches are definitely nicer but further away (not much of a day trip with a small child). We prefer New Smyrna because we live just north of Orlando so it's only a 1 hour drive. We like to go to Sand Dunes Park which overlooks Lighthouse Point Park (one of the nicest beaches).
We prefer Sand Dunes because there is no driving on the beach and you can set up on the riverside or the beachside. We usually set up on the riverside because you can sit closer to the water and keep an eye on our daughter playing in the water from our towels.
I have never been to Cocoa Beach but a lot of people who live in Orlando go there. There is also Cape Canaveral National Seashore out on Merritt Island (you can see the shuttle if it's on the launch pad and Kennedy Space Center on the way).
