NY Nestie ::Butting in::

Hi ladies! I hope you don't mind if I post a question on your board. I have been driving myself insane checking all the weather websites. We're leaving Friday for a long weekend in Disney with our 6 month old. I'm sorry to hear about all this rain! Is it non-stop pouring or is it rain/stop/rain/stop. I am trying not to get discouraged, the weather has always been so great in May and now I have this awful feeling we'll be seeing a lot of our hotel room =( Thanks from a new mom trying to pack/plan for a family

  • It has been pretty much nonstop pouring for the last two days, but I haven't had any rain today where I live. This time of year we typically have an afternoon shower, but the rest of the day is beautiful. I'm sure you will be fine during your vacation as long as you pack umbrellas and ponchos.

  • We are on the east side of Orlando (I think Disney on the west) and it's been raining here nonstop for 2 days.  So far today it has held off, but it's gloomy and dark out, so I'm not holding my breath that it's over.  I just looked at weather.com and unfortunately, it looks like it's going to rain for the next 10 days.  I would pack rain ponchos and you should be ok.  It does let up here and there as well.  Good luck!  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

     Weather.com will likely show rain everyday from now until at least September. Welcome to rainy season! But at least it usually only translates into a short afternoon shower :)

  • Good to know.  lol.  I did check the percentages though and it says there is a 60-70% chance of thunderstorms every day.  I don't mind a little rain, but if it keeps up like it was the past 2 days I'll go crazy.  lol

    LOL You are in luck, nonstop rain is not the norm. Although once we get closer to summer I'd say there is closer to a 95% chance of an afternoon thunderstorm everyday. I love thunder, so I'm all for it...as long as I'm not driving on the highway!

    I love them too!  But like you, I hate driving in them.

  • Like the pp's are discussing, there probably will be storms over the weekend but they probably wont make their appearance until 3ish in the afternoon. You should get some decent weather in the earlier hours. This is the norm in Fl for the rest of the summer.

  • it's been pouring out at disney the past few days but it should be better by the weekend

    def. pack an umbrella or poncho and some shoes you don't mind getting wet.

  • I like the advice that BridalKatie gave about shoes... I also highly suggest that you go to walmart prior to leaving or once you get to Orlando and purchase a poncho for 99cents! Not $10 at Disney!

    good luck & have fun!

    Ditto on the ponchos.  You won't mind hanging out in Disney when it's wet out with them.

  • Panchos are a great idea. We did that (bought them at Walmart instead of Disney) and saved a lot of money.

    Also, I brought a change of clothes for the kids and kept them in my backpack.
