Philadelphia Nestie - Visiting Arlington , TX - need some recs

Hi I am coming to stay in Arlington for my new SIL's baby shower. My brothers new wife is from Arlington so my mom, grandmother and I are going to stay for a weekend in July.

We are staying at the Hilton, Arlington - 1st question is this hotel nice?

What is it near for eating and entertainment, we are staying Friday - Sunday and have a rental car ( Remember I'll be with mom and grandmom )

Baby Shower is being thrown at the Shady Valley Country Club an afternoon lunch - so I was wondering dress code? Is a sun dress with heals appropriate?

Thanks in advance

  • Try Chef's Bistro in Arlington. It changed owners recently but before the switch (I don't think anything has changed yet) it is a great place for lunch or breakfast on Saturdays

That hotel is near tons of restaurants, you'll pretty much have your pick.

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • The hotel itself is nice. You'll be right next to Six Flags - which means lots of restaurants near by. Just a heads up - there is a lot of construction along I-30 due to the Cowboys new stadium in that area.

    Some options for entertainment (
Arlington Highlands - large, outdoor shopping area.
    - Fort Worth Stockyards - see a cattle drive and experience "Texas". There are some restuarants and a little bit of shopping.
    - Modern Art Museum, Kimball Art Museum - both in Fort Worth and good indoor activites - it will be HOT in July.

IMO - You'll have better luck finding things to do in Fort Worth - Arlington is boring.

As far as the dress code - I've never been in the Shady Valley Country Club, just driven by a couple of times - I think your outfit would fine.
