Vick on house arrest

What are your feelings on him? Are you wanting to see him back in the NFL or are you tired of hearing about?

Re: Vick on house arrest

  • Can't stand the man. I absolutely do not want him back in the NFL.

I think his chance has passed and he needs to move on to plan B (whatever that might be.)

  • I'm sick of hearing about him.  But I know he'll make the news for quite some time.

The whole NFL thing is negotiable for me.  I don't want to see him play EVER again.  But that doesn't mean he won't.  If a hungry team wants some PR, they'll sign him.  He still has the athletic ability to be a decent team member, but not a game winner.  If they want some press time they'll sign him but it's RISKY business.

I'm guessing he won't go to anyone unless it's a very hungry/pathetic team.  (did you notice I'm not naming names?  I'm trying to be PC... haha)

If they let him play again and he ends up with hungry/pathetic team here by me I will hvae no choice but to root for the Bears or something like that.

Personally I feel that if the crime was severe enough for extended jail/prison time they should not be reinstated. A night in jail for a bar/party fight ok the player screwed up. 18 months in prison for fighting dogs and the cruel treatment associated with all that the dog fighting entailed.

  • They keep yapping on the sports wires about how he would be a good fit with the Raiders but I seriously hope (notice I said hope and not think because a lot of these owners do not think) that no one would touch him with a ten foot pole.   Actually I hope the commissioner never re-instates him. Then it is a done deal.

There is a lot of arguements back and forth about people saying that he has served his time and should be able to move on with his life and make a living.  I agree he has served his time BUT what he did was dispicable.  He purposely tortured and kills animals. This was not one time, I made a bad choice thing. He did it over and over and over and I am pretty sure he would still be doing it now if did not get caught.

  • I'd like to see him try to make amends for what he's done - speaking out against cruelty to animals and dog fighting and acknowledging what he did. I can't believe how he has behaved. All he has done is whine and complain and make excuses. Does this man not have a manager? He could really change what happens next by doing the right thing. Even if a team does take him on he's never going to be a popular player with the way he is acting.

I only feel that this would be an "ACT" on his part.  I don't think the man is sorry for what he's done.  I also don't think bringing Vick back would be good for the NFL.  They are always saying that they are trying to build character in the NFL, this doesn't show that effort AT ALL!  Bad move.  Like PP said, time for Vick to move onto plan B.

  • As both a football fan and a pitbull lover, I hope he never steps foot onto a professional football field ever again.  Then again, I wasn't a fan of his to begin with.  What he did is inexcusable to me.  He was a role model for millions of people all over the world.  He had all the money and power he could ever need and he messed it all up.  I personally don't buy the "it's how I was raised" BS.  I will never have an ounce of sympathy for him and part of that is because I don't feel he feels an ounce of regret for what he did.  The only good thing that came out of this is the dogs lives who were saved.  And if he does go back to the NFL, then let him go to Oakland of San Fran because Bad Rap will be all over that!  If he did join a team that I was a fan of, I will drop that team like I never watched them!
  • You know, I don't condone what he did but there is some weight behind the "it's how I was raised" argument.  When I studied abroad, my host family had dogs, and their son made them fight.  It was beyond disturbing, yet the son didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with it.  I asked his parents to ask him not to do that, at least while I was at the home, but they didn't see anything wrong with it either.  It was entertainment.

fcked up, I know, but some people just don't get it.
