"Welcome to the (slow) St. Louis Board.  Even though this board is slow I usually check it out about once a day.

Are you working in Columbia or are you going to school there?  Do you like working nights?  I used to work nights a long time ago and really hated it but it worked out best for me at the time. "  -Written by Mrs. Goose

I do work in Columbia at the VA Hospital.  I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist and went to school for that in STL.  I worked at Barnes-Jewish for 2 1/2 years before moving to Columbia.  I got married...thats the only reason why I moved.  I loved the city but he loves the country so Columbia was our compromise.

I LOVE working nights.  Less BS to deal with, pts. families are usually home and I get paid more money for (usually) less work.

Re: Mrs. Goose

  • Glad to know that at least you like working night.  I used to work in the Jewish Hospital emergency room a long time ago as a ER Tech/Secretary.  This was SO long ago that it was before it was Barnes-Jewish.  At the time I considered being a nurse, but then I decided that working weekends/shift work/holidays was not for me.
  • I loved working in the ER at Barnes-Jewish.  I heard stories of when it used to be two different hospitals.  Very interesting.

I love what I do.  I could never be a nurse because I can't deal with poop, but I do like being a Respiratory Therapist.  It is rewarding for me and I am good at it.  I know I can be better and I plan on being the best that I can.  What do you do now?  How long have you been in STL?

  • I'm an office manager but not in the health care field.  I've live in St. Louis basically my entire life except for a short time when I was a baby we lived in Chicago, but I don't remember that.  I really can't imagine living anywhere but St. Louis.
  • I grew up in Northern Wisconsin and when I got to STL I feel in love with the place.  There is so many different things to do and so many fun things to see.  I really do miss it a lot. Sad
