Nashville- Hermitage Area?

Hi! We are going to be moving to Nashville this summer. My husband works for a company based in East Nashville, and our realtor has recommended the Hermitage/Donelson area to us. I actually have some family living in Nashville, but none of them are familiar with this part of town. If any of you have lived there, what did you think? Convenient? Safe? Any thoughts on schools? Thanks in advance!!!

There are some nice neighborhoods in Hermitage. ?DH & I lived in an apartment there when we first moved to town. ?It's reasonable close to downtown, very close to the airport. ?Schools would be metro Davidson Co., which may not be ideal. ?

You may also consider looking in Mt. Juliet. ?It's just the next town east of Hermitage (maybe 5-10 minutes away). ?I think there are a few nesties that live in Mt. Juliet, so they may be able answer any specific questions. ?Schools would be Wilson Co., which is probably a better option.

  • I live in Hermitage and we love it.  However as pp said neighborhood vary so I would definitly look around and get a feel for the neighborhood.

Not sure about the public schools but there is are a couple private schools close by.

  • Hi there, we live in Mt. Juliet...but we're actually right across the street from the Hermitage/Davidson Co. line. If you are going to have kiddos soon and plan on attending public schools, you may want to look into the Mt. Juliet area...you'll still have all the conveniences and location since it's right next to Hermitage/Donelson, but you'll have the Wilson Co. school district instead. Living in Wilson Co. will also mean lower taxes since you won't be in Metro/Davidson Co. that Hermitage/Donelson is in.

We love living in Mt. Juliet. It is very, very safe and there is new stuff going up everywhere. It only takes about 15 mins down the freeway to get to downtown Nashville.

  • Everyone is different, but I have no desire to ever live in the outskirts of town (Brentwood/Hermitage/Bellevue/Mt Juliet/etc). ?I currently live right off West End Ave, next to Vanderbilt University. ?I feel completely safe. ?While I love where I live, we currently rent. ?I would LOOOOOOVE to live in an old home in Germantown or East Nashville, but that's just my personal preference. ?I value having a large selection of NON-CHAIN stores/shops/restaurants within walking distance for an authentic experience. ?I work downtown and used to ride my bike to work (I don't think it's a good idea now that my schedule has changed and I get off work at 4am). ?We have a huge selection of restaurants to walk to that you can't find anywhere else. ?I'm just a couple blocks from Centennial Park, so every time there's a festival going on (arts & crafts fair, international festival, Movies in the Park) I don't worry about parking. ?I just walk over.

That's just me. ?Some people want a farm with land. ?To each his own.

Like I said, I personally love East Nashville, and I have LOTS of coworkers and friends who've bought or already own in the area. ?(PS. I work at a large company in a really creative/unique environment) ?East Nashville has a very unique vibe. ?We go to the Tomato Art Festival there every year.

Besides East Nashville & Germantown, I also like the 12th S area. ?Green Hills is nice, but it doesn't have the "walkability" I like, and it gets a little "uppity" if you ask me, and it's a bit further out than I like. ?Oh, and I'm still discovering the Sylvan Park area, and it has some nice stuff to offer.?

  • Oh, and for the record, all my friends who live in Hermitage love it. ?It just SOOOOOOO not me.
