New here.

Well, I am not usually one to do something like this but I am in Iraq and away from my fiance. My Commander has known about my preference since day one, but now we are somewhere that he has full control of me, he has alienated me from the unit and my fiance. So we are here together but apart and all it has done is brought us closer together. We have until October before we can finally be together and no one can tell us otherwise. We are marrying in September 2010 and I am doing it in my military uniform. I will be 2 years shy from retirement and could possibly be kicked out but I don't care. Oh, and we are 14 years apart. HAHA. What a reality TV show we could be huh? Guess I just got on here to so I can hear good things and encouragement from "family members" instead of haters.

Re: New here.

  • Hello! Welcome, I am really sorry to hear about your struggles. My wife and I met in high school, and she was enrolled in the National Guard, however, the people in her unit found out, and she was harassed sexual for quite sometime. However, during one of her physical check ups it was found out that she had a heart murmur and she was given an honorary discharge.

I admire you for being so brave, and I wish you and your fiance the best. Everything will be worth it in the end, no matter what the turn out.

My wife and I married last year on 8.8.8. We are from Iowa, but currently living in Portland, OR. I think more introductions will follow.

  • Welcome!

So sorry to hear about your current situation but i'm glad you found us - this is definitely a great group for a supportive ear.  Be safe, and I hope the time flies between now and when you can be with your fiance again.

  • Welcome and I am also fairly new here but the ladies here are awesome and supportive. As for your unfortunate circumstances...I hope time flies for you both and then you will "live happily ever after" no matter what anyone else says or does!!

    Stay strong and stay safe!

  • Thank you all for the kind words, it has already been a month since I have been on here and I have been back to the States and back to Iraq. This place really sucks and I cannot wait to get home in October!
