As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Ok, I've been doing some research and apparently the shelter isn't closing, but they are moving to a new facility and AREN'T taking the dogs with them.
Why, you ask? Intervies are citing disease as the reason.
I won't go off on a rant here, but I will just say that if you won't move dogs because of disease, you do not need to be adopting them out.
I'm investigating this further and will most likely be talking to the mayor and other politicals about this. I am ready to pull all of those poor hounds right now!
