What is up with the weather?

Hello!

I am supposed to be going to Miami for vacation next week, but am really starting to get nervous since I see on all the weather reports that it is storming everyday. Has it been constant, non-stop rain/storms, or part of the day? Since it is a "beach vacation" I am starting to wonder if I should look at re-scheduling!

Thanks ladies

Re: What is up with the weather?

  • This is the rainy season in southeast Florida (all summer long). I live in southern Broward County (just north of Miami) and have noticed that it has rained each day around 10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. and then again in the mid-afternoon.  When it has not been raining, it has been beautiful, sunny weather with a light breeze. The good thing about the rain is that it has kept the temperatures down a bit, so it has been really comfortable lately.

Hope that you keep your vacation scheduled. I would just plan a few indoor activities (museums, historical sites, movies, tourist spots, etc) to keep you occuppied during those rainy times.  Hope this helps and let us know if you have any more questions.

  • Thank you. I am just hoping for a few sunny hours each day- haha, my friend and I are so pale we can't handle a whole day on the beach anyhow!

  • I hear ya. I was super pale, but since I walk my dog a few times a day, I have been getting less translucent. Big Smile

Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about the rain.  Just remember that southern Florida is very tropical and will have rain every afternoon.  Right now it's just a bit more because of the low that is sitting in the gulf.

Hope you have a blast down here!

  • Yeah, summer in Florida means rain in the afternoon.  If you're lookign to spend some time on the beach or at the pool, just get out there really early- like 9 am- and you should be fine.  Rains normally begin later in the afternoon!
  • sorry to break the news, but it it suppose to rain all wk long.  but that doesn't mean it will be raining all day.  usually it rains less at the beach, and lasts only about an hour or so.  yesterday it was cloudy (did rain first thing in the AM), but didn't rain again until like 7pm.
