Where to stay in the San Diego/La Jolla area

Hi,

We will be coming to the La Jolla area for approx. 2 months in July and August.  We have a 6mo and a 22mo.  I was looking for recommendations on the best area to stay with children.  I am looking anywhere from San Diego to Mission Bay.  So far we have focused on the La Jolla area (near the beach and about a mile from the village area) but am curious if there are other areas you might recommend.

Thanks!!!

Re: Where to stay in the San Diego/La Jolla area

  • For our wedding we had our guests stay at the La Jolla Village Lodge, it is family run.  It's not the best looking place but I would recommend it.
  • If you need short term housing for 2 months, check out the summer rentals in Carlsbad.  Most of them are within walking distance to the beach.

    Hi Tunanuna!

I would stay out of the Mission Beach/Pacific Beach area if I were you and stay were you mentioned, La Jolla or any of the beach cities North of that.  Depending on how much you want to spend, Del Mar, Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Carlsbad are all very nice areas.  Mission Beach and Pacific Beach tend to attract a lot of the college age and the party crowds so I don't know that it would be right for you with two small children.

    That's just my opinion though!
