yet another daycare question
If I call around to different daycares, will they quote me prices over the phone, or do I need to come in?
Just wondering what infant care goes for in my area, and I'm guessing it might be pretty different on the east side vs. the distantly west suburbs.

Since no one has answered I will..lol. But I don't know, I would think if you called and asked what their pricing were they would tell you. I know I was able to call the school down the street from me to get an idea on what they charged for before and after school care when I was watching my cousin's son.
I would though, which I am sure you will, go in to the daycares to see them in action. If they would just let you come in at anytime, I would do that, surprise attacks so they aren't expecting you. When I was in high school we would get those all the time.
GL - How was your trip? Didn't you go out of the states right after you found out?? Hope it was fun. All I can remember was I was jealous of where you were going..lol
They should be able to give you prices over the phone. ?I don't know why they wouldn't. ?Unless they are shady. ?But I would suggest, too, going in to visit. ?Less expensive might be less expensive for a reason. ?(Not clean enough, not following ratios, certification problems, old buildings, etc.)
I think in home daycares are usually less expensive than centers, and they should be able to quote you on the phone, too. ?

We're just trying to get prices to see what a "fair" price would be for in-home care (a SAHM watching our kid, too). Hopefully the in-home will work out and there will be no need to actually visit places.
And Cassie - India was horrific! HORRIFIC! It was filthy and dirty and smelled and every single one of the Americans traveling on this trip got violently ill. (Including me, 7 weeks pregnant with food poisoning x10) Yeah, we saw some cool stuff and had some cool experiences. But geez! I could tell the whole story sometime if you're interested.

OMG! That sucks that everyone got sick. And I can't imagine that being pregnant and getting food poisoning. I would love to see pictures if you have any, but man o man I bet you were glad to be home.
Every place that I called just gave me the info over the phone.
IMO, in home daycares are the way to go for the first few years. They tend to cost less and there is more one on one attention.
I found a lot of in home providers through my employers EAP. You can also call the state and they will send you a list of all state licensed providers.
