Any teachers or recent college graduates here?

I am back in school for the first time in 13 years (good for me, right?). I have to write an outline and 5 paragraph essay for my humanities class in MLA format. Apparently the MLA format I knew when I was last in school has been revised. Can anyone help me with a template? Or maybe be willing to review my outline and essay when I'm finished to help me with formatting? Please??

Anna

Re: Any teachers or recent college graduates here?

  • I have an old copy of the MLA formatting book, so it's now out of date. However, I just wanted to make the suggestion that you check out the library at your school because I'll bet they have the latest version there that you can borrow rather than having to purchase a copy of your own.

This website may help you as well:

  • I always used OWL - Online Writing Lab, put on by Perdue:  http://owl.english.purdue.edu/
  • I'm a teacher :-)

No MLA format books here, though, but I would definately check out a website - that's what I use. Good luck!

  • Definatley use the purdue site.

Also, for help with citations (and to save a TON of time) go to www.citation-machine.net

Just double check them to make sure they follow the same guidelines as the MLA format (sometimes they differ a little bit depending on the amount of info you have about the source).

    Good luck!

  • I always used the Purdue site as well! Good luck & congrats for going back!
