If you Yelp, I have a question for you
How do you feel about vendors/businesses contacting you after you've left a not-so-great review for their business/service? I did a review of a spa, and gave it 2 out of 5 stars. Mainly because I thought the services were just mediocre given the price range and also that I had to wait for my appointment.
A few hours after I wrote it, the owner of the spa (who did my massage) called me and said she read the review and would like to discuss it with me. I haven't called back yet and am wondering if I should bother.
Sorry to be so long winded, but I just wanted to see what other Yelpers thought about this.
Re: If you Yelp, I have a question for you
I don't yelp but I would call her back and let her know. You may be compensated and if she's a good business owner, hopefully she'll want to find out what she can do better. If she's a b1tch, then hang up, no harm and no foul.
Also...hi
how are the puppies?
Ack! I hate confrontation, but I guess it couldn't hurt to call. Thanks!
The pups are good wahine! How are your furballs? Mine are getting super pudgy, which I love.
I yelp, although I don't weigh the reviews as heavily as I used to since the LA/OC area seems to be ripe with stupid, dishonest, or ridiculous reviews. Peeps here just seem to be angrier than other part of the country that I yelp.
That being said, I would not hesitate to respond to a poor review I gave if the owner of that business went through the effort to contact me.
I know you hate confrontation, but the fact that this person is reaching out to you could be an opportunity to have a better experience at their place of business. I wouldn't necessarily revoke my review if they choose to spoil you with a free second visit, but I would certainly return to yelp with more feedback if given the chance!
this!
oh, and keep us posted.

I'm a little freaked out now that a total of 4 business owners have contacted me over my reviews (2 of them were really good so they just thanked me).
I mean, I want to be honest on my reviews, I'm not sure how I feel about this. Oh well.
I've only had one contact me, but it was for a very positive review I wrote. He asked if he could quote my review on their website and then offered me free dinner for four to say thanks!
I am usually generous with my stars, though, even if I don't really like something.
Now I'm thinking I am too strict with my stars. I'll have to reevaluate that.
