Just curious...

Does anyone eat at the City Diner?  What about Uncle Bills?  If not where are some of your favorite places to go and eat or hang out?

Re: Just curious...

  • I have eaten at Uncle Bill's but have never heard of the City Diner.  Some of my favorite places to eat (not including chain's) are the Boathouse in Forest Park, Crown Candy Company, and Pietro's.
  • The City Dinner is really cool.  I like it a lot.  It is a little hole in the wall diner on Grand.  It has really good food and I love the atmosphere.  If you ever want to go take 44 to Grand, take a right heading towards Gravois.  After you cross over Arsenal it is only up the block a little ways on the right.  You will see Dominos and it is only a few businesses up from there.  You should try it.  I like it a lot and go there everytime I go back to STL.
  • Have eaten at both-

Obvious differences: Uncle Bill's is a large chain, it feels like stepping into the 1980s.  Great food for after a night out.  City diner is a locally owned place that has a wider range of food and is a little more, um, current.  Great for a greasy burger or a midnight milkshake.

Hmm, I didn't know that Uncle Bill's was a chain.  What other states are they in?
