Visiting Louisville, have a question!

Hi! I'm from Bloomington, IN, and will be in Lousiville this weekend at the NCAA Baseball tourney. I am staying at the Courtyard Marriott on 3rd and Jefferson, and I wanted to ask about running.

I usually do 5-6 mile runs on the weekend, but I can't take treadmills (what the hotel has) and I remember when I was in Louisville a few summers ago (origiannly from Cincinnati) there was a trail sort of thing by the river. It looks like I'm not too far from the river (if the hotel is at 3rd st), so do any of you know would i have access to some sort of trail, is it safe, well traveled, nice, etc.  I usually go around 7-8am, but if more people are there later, I could go at 9 or 10am.

Thanks!

Re: Visiting Louisville, have a question!

  • The trail is still down by the river I think it connects from Waterfront Park all the way to Shawnee Park or past that but I'm not sure.  I have only walked portions of the trail and I would say for the most part it is safe downtown during the day but you might want to watch how far you go because it goes through some areas that I'm just not sure about right now.

Also, there will probably be more people out at our lovely parks, Cherokee (in the Highlands), Iroquois (South End), etc.
