Anyone have a QOTD suggestion?

Re: PCP/TTC/ATP

  • nothing new for me today.  I am feeling pretty good.  The crib is being delivered today!  I just tracked it and it is on a truck for delivery.  Yeah.  I am going to yoga twice a week now and I think it really helps.  I also signed us up for our birthing class and a breast feeding class.  The birthing class starts on June 11th and runs for 6 weeks.  I am very excited to start.

  • There's a 95% chance we're out for this cycle given our BFN this morning (its 13 dpo).  The only thread of hope is that AF hasn't shown and A is 1 day late. We'll keep testing until CD1 but the odds are against us in a big way.  Either way, though, we're fine with the result.  A couple shoulder shrugs of "oh well" and we're on to try # 2!

I'm feeling much less zen about the wait for a call from DCF, though.  Its been almost 3 weeks and even though we were expecting this wait, its killing me.  It kills me that there are children out there right.now. that need safe and loving homes and we have one all ready to go, but paperwork shuffling wastes 3-4 weeks.  Last night on the news they had a story of a 18 month old that was hospitalized due to severe abuse by mom's boyfriend. When they said that this family had been previously investigated by DCF, I wanted to throw something at the tv.  They went into a big spiel about how overburdened the system is and how there is a desperate lack of foster parents in our state.....and there I sat - with an empty nursery.  tough night.

  • Sam - How exciting that your classes are starting soon!

Elise - Ugh! I can't imagine how you felt seeing that story on the news.  I hope the phone rings soon and that beautiful nursery won't be empty for much longer Smile Sorry about the bfn - but like you said, still a 5% chance! Wink  If this cycle isn't the one, I'm pulling for #2!!!

Update: According to Fertility Friend, I am 3 dpo!  Looks like I ovulated on CD18, and I am so relieved to be having what looks to be a pretty normal cycle fresh off bcp.  I may even luck out and get my period the week before our vacation! I'm crossing my fingers!

We have started telling some close friends about our ttc plans.  We are sticking with our plan of not telling family until we see a bfp because we just don't want to deal with the nagging (and between us we have 6 parents - so that's a lot of nagging!), but we can't see any reason not to share with our closest friends.  So far they have been super excited for us and supportive.  The friends we have told are not local, so unless they suddenly start calling us all the time - nagging will not be an issue Wink and they all have been briefed that it could take a long time for us to see results.  It feels good to know that we have people (and of course all of you internet people! Smile) to share this experience with.

    That's about it for us.

I have a QOTD suggestion (I think it's been a while since we asked this):

For those who had/hope to have a bio child, did you/will you find out the sex?

For those fostering/adopting, did you/will you specify a preference for a particular sex?

  • Update: It's CD3 so I'll start Clomid again tonight.  I'm excited to get round 2 underway.  And really I'm not all that bummed about round 1.  Sure it would have been cool to get it on the first try, but we have great insurance and we have some time.  I had b/w and baseline u/s yesterday and all is good.  I checked on the specs for the swimmers and we've got excellent numbers so I'm happy.  The RE is totally leaving the plan up to K and I.  At this point I think I'll do 3 cycles of Clomid before possibly moving on to injectables.  We'll see. :-)

QOTD: I do want to find out the sex any baby we have.  I like to plan and be prepared.

  • Good one!

For those who had/hope to have a bio child, did you/will you find out the sex? we will find out at the first possible second. i'm already dying to know and we're not pg :P  i'm not a surprise kind of girl.

For those fostering/adopting, did you/will you specify a preference for a particular sex? nope, we didnt specify.

  • well, our postponed appointment is tomorrow. i'm actually feeling a little less nervous than i did last week--in large part i think due to the fact that c's tummy seemed to pop over the weekend. i'm still excited to hear the heartbeat again and anxious to have the ob tell us that everything looks good, just not the scared nervous i was feeling before.

qotd: we do plan to find out the sex, assuming the baby cooperates. we both would like to know if we need to keep agonizing over boy names. and we just want to know anyway.

  • QOTD: We will definitely want to find out the sex!  We don't have a preference, we just won't be able to handle the suspense!

  • Sam-- so exciting to hear your developments! We get pictures of the crib when you get it set up, right? Wink

Elise-- sorry to hear about the bfn-so-far. And I can't even imagine how gut-wrenching it must be to hear about that stuff on TV but not have a child in your home. Hopefully something works out soon!

Brit-- glad FF got itself sorted out, and that is super exciting that you are having a normal cycle!

Two*-- best of luck for cycle 2! If I may ask, what were your swimmers' "excellent numbers"? (We're still debating whether or not to switch donors, so I'm in info-gathering mode...)

Blue-- glad you are feeling less nervous and glad you get to hear your little one's heartbeat again!

I have to go do something for work (stupid work!) but I will be back with our update soon. Smile

  • We are not finding out.  I must say that  it is killing me a little but I am also excited about the big reveal.  Names are not an issue as they are all set for either a boy or a girl.   We want a girl (based only on wanting to use S's grandmothers name while she is still alive).  We of course are pretty sure we are having a boy and will be happy either way.

I will of course post pictures of the crib when put together.  We are waiting until we paint though so it will be a few weeks.  The last couple of posts on the blog cover the crib and the dresser we are using if you would like a sneak peek.

  • Not much new here.  I started using my OPK as of Monday so I can track 2 cycles before the IUI.  I dropped my prescription for Clomid off yesterday and am picking it up today.

QOTD: I found out my daughters sex, I couldn't wait.  I plan to do the same with all of my children.

  • No updates at the moment... I'm CD 14 and I'm hoping I get some O signs soon.

QOTD: We will definitely, definitely find out what we are having. There is no way I could wait!

  • I'm back. Here's our update...

HSG yesterday went well. I took 3 advil about 30 minutes before and it must have helped because I wasn't in much pain at all. The unofficial report is that my tubes look clear-- the left side spilled on it's own and the right side spilled once I rolled over to my side. I was a happy camper yesterday afternoon!

Follie check this morning showed 2 near-mature (both are 17mm), one on each side. We're waiting for the call with bloodwork results to know where we go from here.

We got to chat with the RE a bit this morning (he did my u/s), and he said there was really no measurable benefit to using 2 vials of swimmers at once, so we won't be doing that. He also recommended against b2b IUIs because of the added expense (about half the cost of an entire medicated cycle) and limited benefit, but said he'd do whatever we decided. We haven't talked about it yet, but I'm kinda leaning towards just doing the one IUI. With the trigger shot, timing is less of an issue, so I can see how an additional IUI might not be much "bang for our buck."

QOTD: I definitely want us to find out the sex. (I want to be able to plan ahead, and I also feel like it would strengthen our bond with the baby as we envision him or her growing inside me.) Sylvia, on the other hand, really wants to be surprised. The compromise we've agreed to-- for the moment-- is that we'll find out ourselves but not tell anyone else (even family). But I am sure the discussion is not over yet!

If we do decide to find out, but decide to not find out right as we are sitting in front of an ultrasound screen, I would love to do something cute like this:

what an adorable idea (the cake and the present)!! I'm not sure I'd even have that much patience, but it sounds like so much fun.

PS - yay for good HSG and follie check!!!

That is so cute! I love that idea!

We did find out. L didn't want to, but I'd already been surprised enough and wanted to know. So we did. We actually found out Baby B first and had to wait 2 weeks for Baby A to cooperate.

For my update - potty training twins is by far the hardest thing I have done. Really, I think it is worse than having 2 newborns. ARGH.Devil

Oh neat! I'd seen her first "reveal", but hadn't seen the second... even cuter I think!
