Anyone sell their jewelry?
You know how they have those commercials that you can do it by mail or actually go to a place to sell you old or unwanted jewelry? I'm curious if anyone has. My mom did and said she got a good price for stuff she never wears anymore. i have a bunch of broken bracelets and lots of rings i haven't worn since HS I was thinking of getting rid of. I don't really see the point in keeping all that still is I haven't worn in a bajillion years and don't even care for anymore.
if you have sold some, where do you sell and did you think you got a good price for it. Plus, did they pay you for the stones. my mom claims they didn't pay for the stones...umm. then i'd want the freakin' stones or wouldn't sell it!

I got $50 a couple of months ago for a gold bracelet and a couple of rings. Sold them to an independent jewelry appraiser, the sister of a friend. Also found out that a few pieces I thought were real gold were fake.
Nope, they typically don't pay for the stones, although most count the stone weight toward the karat weight of the gold. The emerald and diamond chips in my bracelet would have cost more to remove than they would have gotten me, anyway.
I'd take what you have to a small local jeweler. That way you can watch them test the stuff in front of you, and you'll know what's real and what's not. I'd be nervous about mailing everything away. Who knows that those companies are honest in telling you what was real gold and what was fake?
