So we thought we were going to be parents this morning. I had a dr's appt yesterday and they sent me to l&d because I was 1 cm dilated. They hooked me up to the monitor and I was having contractions every 3-5 mins. I wasn't feeling them at all. I honestly felt fine. They kept me overnight. Transferred me to this very uncomfortable room and bed which was causing my back to have horrible spasms. I think I maybe slept an hour last night. Anyway, the covering dr for my practice came in this morning and started talking about delivering today or tomorrow. So of course I called Blair to come up asap. And when the high risk dr (aka mfm - maternal fetal medicine) came in, he said my cervix is long (which is a very good thing) and if I was going to deliver soon, I would be feeling much stronger contractions. They took me off the strict bedrest (Thank God, because I have never used a bedpan before and hope to never use one again). They had been giving me a medication procardia to stop/slow the contractions down and I think it was making it worse. The mfm moved me to a different room with a much more comfortable bed, I am off the strict bedrest and can get up and go to the bathroom on my own, I am not on the iv drip and have been drinking water and cranberry juice which is soooooo good on the lips after not being able to eat or drink anything from 5 pm last night to 11:30 am this morning. They gave me the first of two steroid injections last night to help with the lung development of the babies just in case I delivered early. They want to give me the second one tonight. I just hope I can go home tomorrow. They are aiming for tomorrow. I really hope its not Friday. I will be so much more comfortable in my own house.

Re: Hello
oh my gosh! So is it ok if the babies come this early? Twins usually come before full term right? I hope you can go home soon too! You will definately be more comfortable in your own house. I hope you can cook your babies for a few weeks longer too. (HUGS) I'm sorry you had to go through all that unpleasantness.
Kristi, I hope you get to come home soon and those babies stay in longer. At least the doctors are taking precaustions just in case they come sooner than expected. Hang in there and please keep us posted.
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
I wish the best for you guys and hope you don't have a NICU stay. That was one of the longest weeks of my life.
You poor thing! That is a good thing your cervix is still so long. I hope you're able to make it until 36-38 weeks too.
Try to get some rest at the hospital (at least your in a more comfortable room now!) and hopefully they'll send you home tomorrow. Keep us updated!
Not ready at all. The window hasn't been replaced and the furniture hasn't arrived yet.
