I found this article on the WC board. The more I hear and read about the behind-the-scenes stuff, the less I like the show. This line from one of the producers really bugged me for some reason:
"The only pills contestants are allowed are multi-vitamins and caffeine pills to help them wake up and get through the day."
Caffeine is the primary active ingredient in all those OTC diet pills & fat burners; it's the reason people get jittery on them. Yet the show tries to promote exercise and healthful eating as the path to weight loss. So what type of message does it send when the show acknowledges pumping the contestants with caffeine pills just to get through the day? I don't know about anyone else, but I can certainly feel a difference between 1 cup of coffee and 1 dose fo No-Doz.
Re: Biggest Loser Watchers
So dumb. I'm sure even without caffeine pills the contestants would lose plenty of weight.
I think the caffeine pills are to just keep them going. I mean, you take a sedentary group of individuals and then start working them out for a hours a day, I surprised they can even get out of bed the next day.
I don't really care if they take caffeine pills or not - it's not like the weight loss they are achieving is very realistic to begin with, and as far as diet pill ingredients go, caffeine is probably the least harmful. Kinda sad, but I know I benefit from some caffeine when dieting LOL
