Anyone use the Nikon D40

I found the Nikon D40 with the 18-55 and the  55-200mm lenses, 2 DVD's and a Free 2GB memory card for $599.99.  They are offering a $100.00 instand rebate so it would of been 699.99.  I am thinking that is a good price but I am trying to find out if it's a good camera.  If you do have do you love it and if not why?  TIA

Its a great price, DH paid 850 for mine at christmas.   I have it and love the 55-200 lens.   I think nikon and cannon are like pepsi and coke.  About the same and a matter of preference.   IRL I find more nikon fans, here I find more cannon, but there are both.

I have a D40x and I love it.  I can change pictures to black and white on the camera .

 

I got 2 lenses, 4b card, tripod, lens cleaner, flash, and a whole bunch of other little stuff for 999... So yours is a good deal.

I am trying to get more into photography! I have heard that is a really good camera and was actually thinking of buying it myself. Where did you find this stellar deal???

It's a good price.  You may want to look into the D60 too....it's similar but newer to the market.

I found the camera on www.beachcamera.com and right now they are offering $100.00 instand rebate which is why it's so cheap. I am not sure that it comes with a memory card but those are pretty cheap I think.

Okay this is the D40 not the D40x so it's a 6.1mp instead of 10.1mp... Do you think it worth spending the extra $ for more mp's?

I am sorry it does come with a memory card... 

I think the reason being much cheaper is because it is only 6.1mp so now I am sad

Sorry, I should have said I have a d40x.   Ritz puts them on sale every 6 weeks at a cheap price and they include photography classes.
