I'm afraid of dentists. I haven't been since before our wedding (at least then). So at least 2 years, maybe 3. I'm so scared of going and them telling me I need all this work done. It also doesn't help that the office I was used to going to stopped carrying my insurance. So I'm going on June 27th to some place I've never been.
I'm also scared b.c. my mom never needed work done until she was PG with me. I caused her so many cavaties. AHHHHH!
I am going to be freaking out the closer I get to the date. I seriously won't open my mouth until I make the dentist agree that if he sees a cavity that he won't touch it with the utensils. OMG, I'm freaking out about just thinking about it.
All my teeth hurt now. I swear I keep telling myself that all my teeth will need work.
I think I'm crazy....
Re: Confession
I don't think you're crazy! I think just about everyone I know is afraid of or doesn't enjoy going to the dentist. But you have to think of it this way...if you do need work done on your teeth you'd rather have it done now instead of years from now when things would get worse.
Make sure when you meet the dentist you explain your fear of having all these cavities and that you don't want him touching any cavities with his utensils. He should respect your wishes...if not get up and walk out and start looking for another dentist to try.
Oh I do. I had a very horrible experiance with a dentist and learned from that. Hense the agreement not to open my mouth until they agree to my wishes.
I know I'm being irrational and it's better in the long run but I'm still scared.
Don't feel bad! ?I'm scared to death of the dentist. ?When I was little, the first time I ever went, as soon as the dentist put his finger in my mouth I bit down. ?Through the glove. ?And he bled. ?Now, they can't even start looking in my mouth until they give me gas! ?
If I were you, I'd ask for the gas. ?It's very calming!?
