Opinions - quickly haha

Hey ladies! I'm applying for a graduate assistantship at school and need opinions. The application is very straightforward. I have an excellent letter of recommendation from my former employer, but I'm stumped on what to write for the "statement of interest" part.

There's only enough space to type maybe 2-3 avg. length paragraphs. The assistantship is doing a variety of work in labs, classes, research, etc. It's kind of vague and I'm at a loss. I don't want to be too short, but I also don't want to seem long-winded.

Any advice is appreciated!

Re: Opinions - quickly haha

  • I'm not really good at these things, but I would prob say I am interested in applying the knowledge I have required through (school and experience) to enhance labs, classes, and bring a new perspective to the reseach department.  Just something kinda along those lines, maybe go into a little more detail.
  • I would probably treat it like a resume and use one paragraph to highlight my interest in the program, one paragraph to highlight my experience, and one paragraph to highlight any academic honors, awards, etc

  • Thanks girls. I turned it in yesterday.

I expressed my interest, talked about my undergraduate experience and how it prepared me for the position, talked about my career in marketing and how the skills carried over to the position and referred them to my resume and letter of recommendation for further info. I think it sounds pretty good.

    Here's hoping!?
