A question from DH...

I was discussing with him today about how many diapers/wipes we'll go through in a month when baby is born.  He said, "can't we just use toilet paper?" I laughed and then wondered....can you?

Baby poo isn't solid so it smears.  Toilet paper would just smear it more and if you wipe enough would rub the baby's poor little butt raw.

Actually unless you buy the nasty 1-ply toilet paper, you would be spending more money that way. And as Kasi said, it wouldn't work very well and your poor baby would have a hurt bum. A HUGE box of wipes is only $13 and I dont even go through them that quickly with 2 babies!

Thanks! I told him no but then when he asked why I wasn't sure. I figured there had to be a valid reason (I promise I'm not that dumb) but I just didn't know what it was.

I think you would end up using alot of TP and it would hurt the little butt. And like Tif said, you can actually get wipes pretty cheap.

Ditto what everyone else said. Also now that wipes are in the house regularly....H uses them for himself. My brother uses them regularly too (since he had kids).
