Thanks so much for all your prayers...
Unfortunately, it turns out she has a mild case of leukemia - she will have to go through some chemo treatments. The treatments in this case have an 85% success rate. They will do the first treatment here which means my sis-in-law and her family will need to stay for another month.
The drs here recommended they do the additional treatments at a hospital near their home in MD - luckily there is a good children's hospital in DC close to where they live. The John Hopkins in Baltimore is just too far.
I haven't been able to speak with her for more than 10 minutes at a time so this is as much as I know. She definitely sounded better yesterday than she did on Friday - more hopeful. I can't even imagine going through this. Kalia was in better spirits yesterday too. All of her family is here so she'll have a very strong support group going into this.
Re: Update on my niece...
SO sorry your family is going through this. I truly hope the treatments work... the percentage rates are in your favor! Your family continues in my prayers. ::hugs::
