Billy Joel/Elton John concert in Chicago

Anyone going?  I went to buy tickets and everything I can find still available says general admission.  So does this mean we need to get there super-early to get a decent seat?  We live several hours away, so I'm not that familiar with the stadium.  Where would be a good area to try to sit?

Some tickets are saying Skybox on Sheffield.  Is this a totally different venue than the stadium?  I'm totally confused.  Help!

I was thinking we would try to take a cab instead of driving.  Is that a good idea?

Any recommendations on a nice hotel to stay close to the stadium?

THANK YOU!!!

Re: Billy Joel/Elton John concert in Chicago

  • I checked on tickets.com and didn't see tickets that were "general admission" everything available had a specific section and row. Here's a map of how they lay out the field for concerts:

If you end up staying at a hotel in the city, I would highly recommend taking public transit (or a cab, but that's much more expensive) to the concert and leaving your car at the hotel. There are lots of routes that will take you to Wrigley field.

As far as hotels go, there aren't any that I can think of really close to the field. It's smack-dab in the middle of a neighborhood. But any hotel in city will be near public transit, so look around on some travel websites to get a good deal. I like www.tripadvisor.com

  • Thanks for the help.  I originally looked at ticketmaster, which was the one that said general admission.  I found a few other sites that have specific seat locations.

    Thanks for the help.

  • We are going. ?I'm guessing that the "skybox on Sheffield" would be a rooftop deck on top of a building across the street from Wrigley. ?For baseball games, rooftops can be great, but I'm not sure how it would be for a concert.

  • I went to the concert in St Louis a few weeks ago, so I have no recs for the Chicago concert, but I just wanted to log in and say hi and "Go State!"  :)  I'm a fellow Cyclone grad/fan as well :)  I hope you have fun at the concert!
  • Yeah, Skybox on Sheffield is a nearby rooftop.  Don't do it for a concert.
  • I will be there!  DH and I have been dying to see Elton FOREVER now!!!  Can't wait!
  • Did you find Elton John/Billy Joel tickets? I have extra if you are looking to buy some. You can contact me at sarahmakinen@gmail.com
