Quick Question

I was just sitting here somewhat bored at my desk and this question popped into my head:

Where is the first place that you would want to (or did) take your child for vacation? (A vacation you would want (or wanted) her/him to remember for years to come.)

(I am so old school...it would be Disneyland...Disney World would be second.)

Re: Quick Question

  • I'm with you - Disneyland!  I remember my first visit as a child and I still get all goofy and happy when I visit as an adult.

  • I wanted to take my kids to Disney World before I even had kids. I've probably been there 30+ times and LOVE it (I am a bit Disney park obsessed.)  We did take them this winter and while we did have a good time - it will be 1001x better in 2-3 years (they were 2.75 when we took them.) I can't wait to take them again...and again...and again....

Another biggie is going to Maine. I spent every summer in Maine from the time I was born till 18 when my grandparents sold their cottage. I can't wait to rent a cottage on the water and let the boys play outside, swim in the lake, learn to waterski, have campfires, etc. It is just such a magical place.

I love traveling/doing new things with them and seeing things through their eyes.

  • I would like to start a family tradition early on, perhaps a beach house every summer etc. DIsneyland is a great place to build memories too!
  • DW's looking forward to a disneyland trip when they are a bit older (actually, she could care less how old they are - i've said we'll wait until they are at least old enough to enjoy and remember it).  I'm really looking forward to taking kids up to the cape.  We spend a week in Ptown every summer and its the vacation I look forward to most.  its my "special place" in the world and i can't wait to share it with our children :)
  • I'm really excited about bringing our child(ren) to all the places we love in New England - like Newport and Provincetown.  When they're older, we're looking forward to travelling internationally as a family.

  • Since we go to Cape Cod every year, that will be the first (few) vacations we take our kids on. I'm excited for them to grow up going there the way Trav did. Hopefully they'll love it as much as we do.

Other then CC though, I do want to take our kids internationally eventually... but will probably start with Disney! Especially after they open the Wizarding World of Harry Potter next year. Can't wait!!

    Exactly!

When are you guys going to be in Ptown this year? We'll be in Hyannis the 11th - 19th of July.

  • oh, i don't know, but that's a good question!

we love to go camping and traveling and there are some camping areas we go to pretty frequently here in state, so i'm guessing we'll be taking them along just as soon as we're able. i don't know that i really consider that as much of a vacation, though, i suppose. as far as their first big vacation, i think i'd like to take them to disney world. i've never been there myself (i have been to disneyland, but i was very young), but c has and loved it. i'd also like to take them to the grand canyon, mesa verde, and niagara falls--none of which my wife has been to yet, but she'd love to see them.
