Florida girl heading to New Orleans

Hi everyone. I'm going to New Orleans with my Dad in July and staying at the Maison Dupuy Hotel, we have no clue what to do on our trip. Can you recommend any great restaurants or jazz clubs, art museums or basically anything we should do while there? Thanks for any help you can give us!

I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself.  My name is Jayme and I just got married in South Florida on April 18th.  I'm still on theknot.com and starting to move over to the nest.  Thanks for any help you guys can give.

  • There is so much to do just walking around the French Quarter. Preservation Hall will have some great jazz but so will other places as you walk down there. You'll hear it playing from the street.

Be sure to get some beignets at Cafe du Monde and poboys at Mother's or Cafe Maspero. And a muffaletta at Central Grocery! As for finer dining any of the Brennan restaurants are good - Mr. B's, Brennan's, Commander's Palace, Palace Cafe or the Emeril restaurants - NOLA, Emeril's or Delmonico's. Some other great restaurants are August, Stella, Herbasaint.

Take a street car ride down St. Charles Ave. Maybe a bayou tour if you are into wildlife. Some other popular tours are the plantation tours and the cemetary tours.

If you post on the Travel Board you will get some other great suggestions as well.
