Chicago preschool?

We are relocating to Chicago this summer and if it is anything like NYC I'm probably behind on the whole preschool process. Any advice on what preschools are the best in the lincoln park area and how the admissions process works would be greatly appreciated! DS turned 3 in April. I don't know exactly where in lincoln park we will be living as we are still apartment hunting but it will be somewhere in that neighborhood.

  • Bellamia:

    Chalk Preschool has some openings

Oscar Mayer might also be an option

Unfortunately all the other deadlines are passed an most spots are filled.?

  • Creative Scholars is just west of Lincoln Park. They opened not long ago and they have open enrollment which means you can start any time as long as they have a spot (which I would assume they do since they just opened). My sister just went to their open house in may and can't wait to send my niece there.

  • Not sure about preschools, but if you need info on places to work out you should check out ENRG. They do small group team training and personal training for really reasonable rates and I've heard good things about them. Good luck with your move!

Creme de la Creme is opening up a new location in LP (Webster and Ashland)- they were set to open in May or June of this year, but construction keeps pushing them back.  I'd estimate they're probably looking at about August, based on how the building looks right now.

If you call their corporate office, they can give you a more realistic estimate of opening times.  But I've heard really great things about them.

  • I just have a question for anyone raising a child in the Lincoln Park area, or any other big city.  DH thinks it is such a bad idea for us to relocate from Florida to Chicago but I think it would be fine.  He's scared that DS won't do well there since there's really no homes that have yards and kids just aren't meant to be in big cities.  Please tell me your experiences.  I am so trying to convince him.  Thanks!
