Alright...I think I'll do one post a day

to keep the board moving.

I may annoy you, so please let me know.

Today's topic: If you could change one law, what would it be? (we asked this on my local board the other day and got some interesting responses!)

Me? harsher penalties on drivers with DUI (like 2nd time lock 'em up, 3rd time throw away the key), and institute a mandatory 35 hour work week.

  • I don't really know too much about law. But I can't wait for them to implement the "no cell phone while driving" law. I try not to call when I drive and if I absolutely have to, my car has a builtin mic and speakers so I can use bluetooth. I can't stand drivers that have their cell phone on one side with their shoulder tucked in and then they don't pay attention to where they are going.
  • I like the idea of a 35 hour work week, but the same salary.  I don't work a "real" job right now, currently a SAHM but when I did I worked 50 plus hours a week, and my husband currently does, no more than a 40 hour work week would be pretty good imo.  I don't have any additional ideas... but i figured I'd chime in since this board is so slow...

I totally agree with you, but this is the law in WA and I don't think it's made a bit of difference.  I see drivers on their phones all. the. time.

  • I would make a law that public safety and public education cannot be the first things to be cut when the public system needs to readjust the budget. I could carry ON and ON about that.

Same here in CA-both talking AND texting are a $75 ticket, and I see people do it all.the.time. So annoying.

I like this! It also seems like education gets the short end of the stick, yet it's so vital to society...
