At My Wits End.

Hi Ladies.  This is the first opportunity I've had in a while to get on here.  Things have been going full tilt.  I don't have time to breathe lately, or so it feels.

Sarge was doing a little better with his bathroom issues for about 3 weeks, then all of a sudden, he's got the craps again.  I took a poo sample to the vet and they can't find any parasites, worms, or the like in it.  I don't know what to do.  I feel like the vet is not doing anything, and I feel like crap because I don't know how to make Sarge feel better.  The vet wants us to bring him in everytime he farts.  I feel like they're just ripping us off.  They charge a fricken arm and a leg too.  If I'm this stressed out about a dog, what am I going to do when I can't make my baby (whenever that happens down the road) feel better?!

Not to mention DH is leaving for his 2 weeks annual training on the 13th and I'm completely swamped at work, including multiple late nights on the calendar.  Not to mention it looks like he might be getting hired by York City or York Regional PD (he's made it to final interviews for both departments) and starting the academy next month.  It's great -- it's totally what he wants and it's a HUGE increase in pay -- but man, my time is stretched thin as it is!

I just needed to vent.  I feel really depressed lately and all I want to do is cry.  I"m not sure why that is.  *sigh*  Thanks for listening, I needed to "say" it out loud.

Re: At My Wits End.

  • Did he have anything abnormal in his diet that you know of?  How old is he?
  • I'm sorry that you are so stressed right now!  Did you change anything in Sarge's diet recently?  Is he still eating and drinking like normal?
  • Sorry to hear that you're going through a rough time. I hope you're able to figure out what's setting off Sarge and that things calm down at work.  Could it possibly be a food allergy?

  • About a month ago, we found out he's got a wheat allergy, so we switched him to a gluten-free and corn-free food.  He was doing great for 3 weeks and then all of a sudden on Monday he had an all-out explosion in his crate while I was at work.  I mean, it got all over the walls and everything.  It's been downhill since then.  My friend works at the emergency clinic on Sunday night, so I'm taking him over then for x-rays and bloodwork.  I just sat there crying hysterically last night because I can't help him!

He's fine every other aspect - drinking tons of water, playing normally, sleeping normally, etc.  He's got a healthy appetite.  I mean, he could probably eat a horse if he had the opportunity.  He's 22 weeks old.  He's not putting on the weight he needs to because of this diarrhea and only eating rice and a little hamburger mixed in (per the vet's orders).  *sigh*  Hopefully they'll find something on Sunday.  At least I'll know what's wrong with him then and can get it fixed.  I've got Pet Insurance, so at least I've got that going for me...

  • Oh no!  I'm sorry your pup isn't feeling well, and even more frustrating that you can't figure out why.

Have you considered going ot another vet for a second opinion?

But food changes can be tough, especially for young one with a weaker tummy.  I hope Sarge gets well soon!
