Eight Belles Ky born and bred put down today

She was put down after the race on the track. She broke both front ankles. Horses are not fairing too well right now don't know if I'll watch the Olympics or not.

Re: Eight Belles Ky born and bred put down today

  • It was very sad.  But what does this have to do with you watching the olympics?

  • My mom was bawling! I think this is the worse derby ever. I will never forget the fact that they euthanized her right there on the track!!
  • There will be horse events in the Olympics and I can't handle much more. I was at Rolex and saw Frodo go down heard the other horse fall and now this. I know that TV coverage may be limited with the horse events but I don't want to watch if something else is going to happen. That's all.
  • wow, right on the track?  that seems a little cruel and heartless.  the more i find out about racing, the more against it i become...
  • There is no way they could of moved her. The only way to do it was on the track they blocked her from view by the vet and trailers. Moving a 1200 and more pound horse is no easy task.
  • I think they acted quickly in her best interest.  Poor thing - there was no way they could save her, so better to put her out of pain.  It was very sad.
