My crazy Friday

Went in to the eye doctor for contacts for my vacation and ended up in the emergency room getting a MRI and Spinal Tap! My first hospital visit ever and let me tell you it sucked. Theres nothing like a doctor telling you, you may have a brain tumor to really make you evaluate your life!!! Whoa.

Turns out I have:
papilledema/psuedotumor cerebri

which is totally treatable with medicine and i have to loose weight. at least 28 lbs...its so weird b/c manny and i always say we have the worse luck or things are harder for us than most. i am overweight yes but i have no diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol or most common things associate with being overweight... but i may go blind?! I mean wow that's pretty drastic. But at the same time I thank God for the kick in the ass i needed.

Again I'm going to work on the workout group I started and then had a big event to plan and stopped. I need your help girls!!

Thanks for listening and my back is killing me today!

Re: My crazy Friday

  • Wow, I'm glad it wasn't worse and is treatable.  I hear you on the bad luck.  It follows me every where!

    Hang in there!

  • omg that is crazy Sad I am glad it is at least treatable.

  • So is this something they found during your eye exam?? That is alot to soak in when you are doing something that seems so routine.....

Hope you get it taken care of quickly.

  • I got your email. I'm so sorry you got this news for your weekend. :-( At least it is treatable....that is the best thing you could have found out. I can't really try to lose weight right now, but I can totally try to keep up with you on a walk or something. :-)

I hope you're able to enjoy a bit of your weekend! TTYS.

  • Wow.  What did the eye doctor see that sent you to the ER?  Did you have any symptoms of that?  I was tested for that a while ago due to this crazy dizziness I have had for like 6 years now.  My CSF pressure was fine.  I'm glad you're OK and glad it's treatable.  Spinal taps are no fun!

  • Thanks ladies! I'm back home now. Yup it was just a routine eye exam so that I can get some contacts for my trip. No prior symptoms what so ever.

That was my first hospital visit EVER and it was so scary! I thought of all the worse case scenarios and luckily everything was not as bad as I had imagined it but still pretty serious...

The pills I'm on have crazy side effects so I'm looking to get of them ASAP. I have to get examined every 2-3 weeks also...

Thanks for all the support. I'm confident it'll all work out. I just can't wait until its over.

I was able to still go on my vacation but I had CRAZY headaches as a side effect to the spinal tap. Some so bad that it caused me to throw up.. Luckily, we still had a good time.
