new to the board

Hi everyone i am new to this place, not too sure what to say just i am about ready to pull my hair out even though the wedding is over a year away...i am now starting to get serious about planning for it but i am completly lost at where to really start. my main complications are.

1. i am having the wedding in my home town which is 300 or so miles away from where i live now

2. i am truck driver that drives the 11 western states (i am on the road for 10-14 days at a time) while my FH is at home working for the state

3. dresses OMG dresses

i am just lost right now i have been putting off the main part of my planning until now i mean i have my colors, place, and attendents figured out as for everything else no clue well place is at my grandmothers house which is kinda small in a way unless we use the front yard or something, i guess next time i am there i can take digital photos of the yard and everything so that part can be worked out

can anyone help me just to get a jumpstart or something, i mean my ladies ask me what they can do but i don't know what to tell them

Re: new to the board

  • I would highly recommend checking out theknot.com and the local board there. They are on top of the whole wedding planning thing much more than everyone here because most / all of us here are already married.

On the local Knot board, they post regular vendor reviews, talk about dresses, flowers and all of that sort of thing.

1 bit of advice -- work on the dress first. It can take approx. 6 months to get the dress you want and then you have fittings after that. Figure out what styles you like (strapless? sleeves? train? full or fitted? etc) and head to some bridal shops (make an appt first) with a friend or 2 (not an entire troupe of women because it makes things too complicated).

    Good luck & congrats.

  • i have posted there as well i was just seeing if i could get some more help from other people, thanx
  • I don't have any advice, but good luck with your wedding!
