Has anyone been to Toronto?

We're going next month with the baby (he'll be 13 months) and i'm wondering if anyone has any fun suggestions of things to do there. We'll be staying at the Westin in downtown. We def want to hit the CN tower and  some museums, but I was just wondering if anyone's been and if they have a must see place or restaurant suggestions!

TIA!
~Dana

Re: Has anyone been to Toronto?

  • We've traveled to many cities, and DH and I still say our most fun experience was in Toronto!

We are huge Rangers fans so we went when the Rangers were playing the Maple Leafs up there. Toronto doesn't have much in the way of attractions, but it does make up for that with awesome people who will buy you all the drinks you want at a bar even if you're fans of the opponent, LOL. Granted, with a child that won't be a possibility, but I'm sure there's lot of fun there for families too. Maybe check Trip Advisor for family-friendly suggestions.

Even if you're not a hockey fan, the Hockey Hall of Fame is pretty awesome and it is one of their best-known attractions. They usually have the Stanley Cup there on display for you to take a photo with (yes, the real Stanley Cup!), but it may not be there when you go because the Stanley Cup finals are going on right now.

  • Thanks for the info Marie. I dont think we'll be getting many drinks bought for us with Aaron at the end of the table, but i'm hoping we meet some cool people like you guys did! We're not really hockey fans, but I was thinking we might go visit the hockey hall of fame if the weather is rainy or too hot one day. Thanks again!
  • Perhaps the only reason any New Yorkers go to Toronto because of hockey? I too have been several times, all of them related to the Hockey Hall of Fame or a Leafs game. But there are (so my Toronto friends tell me) decent museums and its an easy city to meander around. Different neighborhoods offer concentrations of great ethnic food too, if you'd like to give that a try, not all the same offerings of NYC. (Better Hungarian options, for example.) Have fun.
  • I've only gotten stuck at the Toronto airport on my way back from London a few years ago, and i had the hardest time getting someone to be nice to me and help me figure out what to do! But i'm sure that was an isolated incident. Wink

I would actually love to visit a few cities in Canada!

    GL and have fun!

  • Thanks ladies. Even though we're not going for the hockey i'm really looking forward to visiting Canada.  A group of us went in college a few time, but that was only because they had a younger drinking age :) We didnt really get to take in any of the sites at 2am! :)
