I'm leaving for vaca in a few days, and for part of the trip we're going down to Alabama with some friends to start looking at house on or near the lake.
Can anyone tell me about the area? Good places to look? Good boating areas? We currently live in the Chicago suburbs, and are playing around with the idea of moving south, someplace with almost year round boating.
TIA!
Re: Guntersville Lake?
Welcome! I have a friend that is actually selling a house on the lake. Here's their listing. They have lake access all year long. It is in Athens, AL.

Anywhere on the Tennessee River or Elk River is great. I live about 2 minutes from the Elk and about 10 from the Tennessee. You could try looking in Florence, Sheffield, and Muscle Shoals if you like the Tennessee. I am from that area origionally and we went to the river all the time. I haven't been to Lake Guntersville but a few times but it is nice. You could also try Pickwick Lake in Tennessee. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. bamagirlerin01@aol.com
