Weekend getaway with friends. Ideas?
We have a group total of 10 min 14 max (including kids) that we'd like to plan a little weekend getaway with.
We're looking at the 3rd weekend of July but all of us have so much going on that we have very little time to put into planning. Originally we wanted to do either camping at Garner St Park or even faux camping (rent a cabin or screen shelter or something) but all the places there are either booked or require a 3 night min stay which none of us can do.
Do any of you have a recommendation of where to go, what to do? Schlitterban is out but we're up for anything else I think.

Try Port Royal in Port Aransas. It's a resort w/ condos.

or try looking for a place at Horsehoe Bay on LBJ Lake. There is a Marriott which is very nice!

The beach is great! I have some friends at work that go every year with several other families and they have a blast. Off of N. Padre Island, there are several condos. Start with:
The Gulstream http://www.gulfstreamcondos.com and El Constante http://www.elconstante.com. They can sleep 6 and have full kitchens. PLUS, they are RIGHT on the beach. I mean you walk out of the room, and you are right there. GL!
Thanks for all teh ideas, I might have to use them some other time. After perusing some cool sites for vacation homes & tons for cabins, etc we decided on Lake Bastrop. Our little cabins are very sparse but do have A/C which is important in the middle of July in Texas!
